Dear Brothers and Partners:
A Note of Thanks. I wish to thank all the Brothers who participated in the just concluded part 2 of the 13th District
Chapter. The chapter was light and informal and yet we were able to discuss substantial matters concerning the District.
We took the methodology that was used in the last General Chapter to come up with Challenges, Horizons and Lines of
Action. |

Donation of the District of ANZPNG. The District of Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea, through its Visitor Br. Ambrose Payne and his council, donated PhP 5 million to Jaime Hilario Integrated School – La Salle. In his email to me, Br. Ambrose wrote of the “enthusiastic acknowledgment of the great contribution that the District of the Philippines has made to Papua New Guinea.” He further wrote that there was no hesitation in granting the donation. |

Canonical Visit to the Sub District of Myanmar. I spent the last week with the Brothers of the Sub District of Myanmar. I arrived on the 22nd using, for the first time, their spanking new airport. I spent the succeeding two days, the 23rd and the 24th, interviewing the Brothers. On the 25th, we had the General Assembly where I gave a presentation on the 44th General Chapter as well as developments in Cluster 1 of the restructuring currently taking place in PARC. The final sondage for the Auxiliary Visitor of the Sub District took place in the Assembly and the results were sealed and will be sent to the Superior General.

FRUITS OF ONES LABOURS: I (David) spent five days recently at La Salle Arpana Nivas, the novitiate of the Delegation of India. In addition to making the annual Canonical Visit I gave classes each morning to the eighteen novices, twelve in the second year and six in the first year. As each of the novices shared their story of vocation with me, it became very clear that their contact with individual Brothers and in some cases communities of Brothers was very significant in fostering the development and growth of their vocation. This coupled with the excellent vocations and pre-novitiate programmes in India contributes among other factors to the success of the Lasallian vocation story in India. One of your number, Bro. Arian, Vocations Director in the District of the Philippines is planning to visit India to take a close look at the programme there. Perhaps others may consider doing so in a spirit of networking and collaboration. |

PARC 31 PENANG: While PARC 31 is a long way off, some information at this stage will not go astray. Bro Paul Ho, Principal of St Xavier’s Institution in Penang is our local contact. He is working in collaboration with Bro Anthony Rogers, Area Director, Malaysia and the alumni of St Xavier’s to ensure that our time in Penang will be memorable. |
