We received word today that Mr. Domiciano Bringas, long-time staff member of De La Salle University and Benefactor of the De La Salle Brothers, returned to the Lord on the morning of 11 January 2010. “Dom” Bringas joined De La Salle College – Taft in 1951 was secretary to several Presidents of De La Salle College and later, De La Salle University: starting from Brother Richard Duerr FSC, Brother H. Gabriel Connon FSC, Brother Andrew Gonzalez FSC, and Brother Rafael Donato FSC. He retired in October 1995 after 44 years of service.Mr. Bringas was presented the Letter of Benefaction on November 16, 2004.
Dom served De La Salle University faithfully, making himself available to students, parents, alumni and the Brothers. In the days when many Brothers of other nationalities were assigned to the Philippines, one of Dom’s concerns was to make sure that their passports and working visas were up-to-date. Together with Dra. Rosa Guevara, he also followed up on the annual check-up of the Brothers. As one of the repositories of the “institutional memory” of De La Salle College and the District, Dom kept the Brothers informed of our links with different members of the Lasallian Family, whether individuals, families or institutions.
As we fondly remember Dom, let us also express our appreciation for all he has contributed to the Lasallian Mission by remembering him in our prayers in fraternal association with his family.
Mr. Bringas’ wake will be at the National Shrine of the Divine Child in La Salle Green Hills until the funeral Mass at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 15. His funeral follows in Manila Memorial Park.
