Canonical Visit to DLSU Brothers Community. I spent 20 – 22 January with the Brothers and resident aspirants of De La Salle Univeristy. Interviews were done in the first two days and the third day I met the community to give feedback and answer some of their questions especially on LEAD.

The DLSU Brothers community, like most communities in the District, services more than one institution, De La Salle University and DLS – College of St. Benilde. However, despite their busy schedule, the Brothers make an effort to be present in community. There are nine Brothers working in various capacities in the two institutions. Br. Benildo as Director ensures the good order of the house; Br. Armin continues to accompany the DLSU academic community ably supported by Br. Bernie and Br. Michael Broughton; Br. Joseph Scheiter handles an undergraduate course in Physics and also a class for Philippine Normal University students; Br. Victor, as President of CSB, walks to his office daily; Br. Roly, aside from teaching one Theology class at CSB is kept busy with his involvement with Gawad Kalinga and Good Citizenship Movement; Br. Joseph Quy from Vietnam is in the homestretch of his Masters program in Education Management and Br. Rey Mejias, the District’s Vocation Promoter, is energetically following up our aspirants and contacts.

There are currently four live-in aspirants in the community who are deep in discernment for the postulancy program. Two of them work in DLSU namely, Edgardo Tanwangco and John Bellosillo; another works in CSB’s Development Office, Toby De La Cruz; Dan Sanding works in a tutorial center in Ortigas. They bring youthfulness and dynamism to the community.

I wish to thank Br. Benildo for arranging for my visit and I wish to thank the Brothers for the warm welcome.

Aspirants List.
I am attaching the most current list of aspirants provided by Br. Rey Mejias. As of today we have 42 active aspirants. 17 from DLSU, 3 from La Salle Academy Iligan, 1 from La Salle University Ozamiz, 9 from De La Salle Lipa, 5 are accompanied by the Residencia Community, 4 are handled by the Lasallian Formation Center and 3 come from USLS.

Let me take this opportunity to thank Br. Rey Mejias and the different communities who are actively involved in vocation promotions. Gratitude goes to our Brother Mentors who accompany our aspirants.
