St. Benilde Community Canonical Visit. Thank you to the Brothers of the St. Benilde Community for a grace – filled visit from 27 to 29 January. I began and ended my series of interviews with the Director.
The St. Benilde Community is made up of seven Brothers working in four different ministries namely, La Salle Green Hills, La Salle College Antipolo, De La Salle Araneta University and the Lasallian Formation Center. Br. Felipe is kept busy with his work as president of La Salle Green Hills and director of the community; Br. Bobby shuttles to DLSAU as Chancellor but also does part time work at LSGH as Alumni Moderator; Br. Dante travels daily to LSCA as President ably supported by Br. Manny Hilado; Br. JJ continues to accompany the postulants and scholastics at the LFC with full support from Br. Mike, who also works as head of our District Animation Team, and Br. Vince who is preparing to take over from JJ as Director next year.
I ended with a meeting with the community followed by dinner. This is the last of my visits for the communities of the Philippine District. My appreciation to Br. Felipe and the Brothers of the community.
Canonical Visit to the Sub District of Myanmar. My series of canonical visits this year will be capped with an official visit to the Sub District of Myanmar. I will be flying out on 31 January but will stay with the Daughters of Charity in Bangkok for a meeting. I will be in Yangon on the 2nd of February and will be back in Manila on the 9th.
Aside from interviewing all the Brothers, a Sub District assembly is also scheduled. My visit will end with a SD council meeting.
Br. Vic Franco is in charge while I am away.

Heart Smart: Red Wine. According to a 2001 article in the journal Circulation, more than 100 studies have shown there’a an inverse relationship between drinking moderately and heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular diseases – reducing heart disease risk by 25 to 40 percent. Various studies have found that alcohol helps prevent artery damage caused by LDL, inhibits blood clots, and raises HDL levels. The additional antioxidants in red wine make it a smart choice. The color of red wine comes from grape skins which contains resveratrol. In lab studies, resveratrol appears to stop arteries from getting blocked by fatty deposits. How Much. Moderation is key. That means one drink for women and two drinks for men a day. Other Sources. All alcohol has heart-healthy benefits, including spirits and beer. Runner’s World February 2009
